【User's Feedback】I found a job at YOLO JAPAN!③

YOLO JAPAN is a job site for foreigners in Japan. You can select an area and work style to find a job that suits you.
In this time, we introduce an interview with user T, who found a job at YOLO JAPAN!

  • What brought you to Japan?
I wanted to study civil engineering in Japan.
I also came to Japan because the people are kind and the scenery is beautiful.

  • What is your current job?
I work at a bento-ya (bento shop) in Kyoto, making bento boxes.

  • How many jobs did you apply for?
    I applied for 4 or 5 jobs.

  • Under what conditions did you look for a job?
I looked for jobs that did not require Japanese.
I also chose jobs with high hourly wages and where I could learn on the job while working.

  • What was important to you in choosing a job?
I don't have a lot of free time, so it was important for me to be able to choose my own shifts.

  • What was the most difficult part of looking for a job or applying for a job?
I think many Japanese companies are not open to foreigners.
Also, many were looking for older (nenpai) Japanese people, but I was able to find a job at YOLO JAPAN.

  • How many days a week do you work?
    I work 3 days a week, from 6:30 to 14:00.

  • Are there any other foreign staff?
    There are more than 10.

  • Have there been any challenges in your work?
No, there have not been any.
When I first started working, my boss taught me how to do my job until I could do it by myself.
It is hard to get up early in the morning, but I like to get up early for work.

  • What do you like about your current job?
I like that the work is so easy that I can learn quickly even if I am new to the job.
Also, my boss is very friendly and I enjoy talking with him.
I feel very comfortable and at ease working here.

  • Message to non Japanese living in Japan who are trying to work in Japan!
Don't be afraid to try your best!
Even if your Japanese is not very good, apply for as many jobs as possible.
Even if you find a job where you can speak English, don't forget to study Japanese.

User T found a job that was perfect for him and did not require much Japanese.
Eventhough he is a beginner in Japanese, he can easily learn the job, the boss is kind, and it sounds like a lot of fun!
