Why did you apply for this job?

“My dream is to live permanently in Japan. My wife was already living in Kyoto, so I wanted to come here and live with her.

To make that possible, getting a job was the best path—so I searched on YOLO JAPAN.

Then I found this job in the coffee industry. I really love coffee, so I applied right away.

During the interview, everyone was so kind, and I felt comfortable with the team. That’s why I chose this job.”

Did you have any concerns before applying?

“My only concern was the Japanese language. Not many people speak English in Japan, so I worried about communication.

But at my current workplace, everyone is kind. They try to speak with me, use translation apps when explaining things, and talk to me with a smile. It’s a very warm and supportive environment.

That’s why I feel I need to study Japanese even more.”

Current job and what you enjoy about it

“My main task is packaging. I really enjoy working as part of a team. We greet each other with smiles during breaks, and we support each other throughout the workday. It feels like a family. I feel truly needed in this company.

Helping my coworkers is very rewarding. I can help them, and they always help me too. That mutual support makes me genuinely happy.”

Future goals

“I love working with coffee. I want to learn more about coffee quality and gain more knowledge so I can contribute to the company.

I’m always thinking about which skills I should improve, and I try my best every day.”

“Study Japanese little by little—and don’t give up.

Japanese people really appreciate when you show effort.

You don’t have to be perfect. What matters is showing that you’re trying.”
